We’ve started implementing this in our own studio and the brides love it. The best thing is, they get to carry around a little jewel of our favorite work for them to share.
So what do we do? It’s actually quite simple. Once a bride books us we jump online and order a 10 page Finao Elements 4×6 album. The cost of this is under $25. When it comes in we just stick it on the shelf. The wedding comes and goes. We do all of our processing, order our first edition prints (proofs) and sit back. When the first edition prints come in we choose our favorite 10 prints and mount them in the 4×6 book. From this point we can either give the bride her book when she comes in to pick up the proofs, or we can have it delivered to her place of work (this is super-sneaky and bride’s completely freak out).

Alternate ideas would be to order your 10 favorite photos just after the wedding, and have the mini album sent to the bride a week or two after the wedding. Even cooler, bring an assistant along to a wedding and a little 4×6 ink jet printer. Have a 10 page album of pre-ceremony and ceremony images ready for them half-way through the reception.
This little gift is a great present for the bride and groom, but also is a great marketing tool. I’ll quote Finao’s Marketing Blog here to say why.
1. She will love you for giving her a gift.
2. We never say thank you enough and personal notes are just the best.
3. She will not leave empty handed.
4. She will show YOUR favorite images to everyone, anyone, even strangers.
5. There is no clutter, no long looking time. Just 10 knock ‘em dead images.
6. Brides know other potential brides – the best place to advertise.
7. She will sing your praises.
8. Her mother will borrow the book and extend the advertising reach.
9. You have provided this at the best time – when she is still in that bride stage and talking nothing but wedding.
10. You want to grow your business and love cheap, effective advertising.
I’d like to thank Christine for sharing this wonderful information and just being a downright nice person.

“Brides know other Brides,” Proof of Concept:
My wife hired a florist that wasn’t well known in the are. In fact, this lady worked out of her house. However, the flexibility, artfulness, and price point we got from her landed her 6 more weddings in the next 6 months from my wife’s friends, most of whom were at the wedding.
Brides do know other brides, and often ask each other for advice. Since photographers don’t have their work on display at the event, this would be an excellent way to get is something in their hands ASAP. I’d suggest giving a few extra to the bride to give away as well.
