Portrait photographer Kim Mallory has this marketing thing down to a science if you ask me and she’s about to let you all know how and why she does it.
According to Kim, she’s been wanting to send a newsletter (see it below) to her clients for quite some time now.
…it’s so hard to keep in touch and I’m pretty much a one man show around here.. It’s very easy to connect this way (via newsletter) now by using on of the online programs used to create newsletters and I figured, every other type of company is doing it, so why shouldn’t I? I used madmimi and it’s super simple to use. It allows you to track who’s reading your newsletter, clicking on your links etc. I really feel it’s important to keep connected with my clients. I prefer facebook for this, but not everyone is on there. It’s also not feasable to keep putting promotions on the blog and expect that people are going to come looking that often to see what’s going on.
She says that marketing experts are always telling us that it’s easier to reconnect with past clients than it is to get new ones. So in her own words, she’s running with it!
But why put facebook dead and center? What about a blog? What about a website?
I have a facebook group, which has most of my fans on it, but of course everyone is going to pages now, so I’m trying to direct everyone there without having to spam all my facebook friends asking them to join my page now…
I’m also pretty open with my personal facebook page and that seems to be the place where everyone is going now too and yes, I’m getting a good response from the newsletter, lots of new friends.
It’s almost like a holiday card but better. So was her newsletter a success?
Since I sent out the newsletter 2 days ago, everyone that I bump into around town has mentioned receiving it, I’ve received lots of responses via email and I’ve sold several gift certificates too… it’s certainly been well received and worth the extra effort.
Thanks to Kim for being so open and candid.
