It’s really time that we all begin to stick up for our rights before we start to lose them. The latest TSA counterterrorism poster depicts a man with a camera standing by an airport fence and urges people to report behavior which they find questionable. Taking photos at airports is nothing new and it’s certainly not suspicious in and of itself.
That is unless you’re the overly paranoid TSA apparently. You would think that they should spend their energy focusing on other means of counterterrorism besides running around the parking lots chasing off Uncle Bobs.
I guess I missed that day in photography school where they told us that we would be branded terrorists for taking photos in public places. Don’t let the terrorists win by giving up your rights.
Dear TSA marketing department… I’m disappointed!

Why isn’t treating someone with a camera as suspicious considered “profiling”?
It’s always those lacking in complete understanding of the situation that make the stupidest comments. A handful of photographers whine and cry when law enforcement takes understandable actions to “question” people due to others illegal actions.
Why don’t we all just turn out heads totally and allow anyone and everyone to just go where they want, do what they want anytime they want.
People take the work freedom for granted and misuse it’s intended purpose. Living in a free society has it’s limits.
Geo if I was a betting man I’d guess you used to be a cop. One of the great thing about living in America. We are allowed to do those thing. Crazy things like, go out in public and take photos of things in public spaces. You know where the general public are allowed to be.

I really do not think we do, I think the police and security are often unclear of the limits placed on their power as granted by our existing laws. You can’t even begin to argue with me that I’m wrong, as I’ve had to stand up to police and security countless times when working as a journalist.
Each and every time, I was right and prevailed and they were overstepping. EACH TIME!
I’ve challenged more than a few officers (very politely I might add) to go ahead and arrest me if I was in fact breaking a law. Not one of them would actually attempt to enforce the bogus laws they were making up to suit their needs. If I was a coward, and turned away instead of sticking up for my rights (which by the way are the rights of everyone who lives in our country) then it’s no different than being bullied. Bullied by someone who is supposedly there to enforce the laws yet often time barely understands them and or attempts to bend them as they see fit.
Holy Moly,
no more hoodies for the eddieman………:)

Taking a photograph near an airport is a “misuse” of our freedoms? Seriously? Mr. Lutz pretty much said all that needs to be said in response to such sillyness.
