The second clue should have been that they emailed you. A great rule of thumb for SEO or Marketing companies is that if they cold call you should just chuck the email into the trash straight away.

“WE PUT YOU ON PAGE #1 OF GOOGLE INSTANTLY ” To the best of my knowledge the only way to instantly put someone on PAGE 1 of Google is to buy and ad and stick it up there because Google, not the internet marketeers, control the natural search engine results. Placing an ad is something you can do yourself rather easily. I would venture a guess that most of you could, from scratch, complete a Google ad buy in less than an hour having never done it before.

Well if you use Adwords, yes!
It is amazing how many of these SEO ‘experts’ are put there. My favorite test is to search for these guys’ sites and see that they don’t rank very well if at all themselves.
In fact a real safety test is to see if they are even indexed by google at all. If not they are defibtely a scam at best and spanner who could harm your site at worst.
Type this into google…
Site:domain-to-test.con
example: site:digitalweddingforum.com
no http or www.
This will return all indexed pages. If there are no results, that site is not in google’s index at all and is most likely banned for bad behaviour.
