If you’re looking for a font, Typdedia is set to be your new favorite site. Free to join and made up of community submitted content this rapidly growing searchable font catalogue has some serious potential. But it’s more than just a catalogue you can also learn the who, what, where, when and why certain fonts were created.
We love type, and we have a burning desire to learn as much as possible about typefaces: where they come from, who made them, and why they look the way they do. We want everyone to be able to share in that rich knowledge and enjoy the art and artists of type design. Over time, we think Typedia could grow into a great educational resource for people to learn about their favorite typefaces and discover new ones.
Kudos to the Typedia team for attempting to fill a void.

I dearly love fonts and it is great to see a new font site.
But I have to say the site is very frustrating to use if you don’t know the name of the font you want to find.
It would be easier if there was a sample beside the name. It is time-consuming to have to open each one separately to see the style of the font.

This is more of a wikipedia than a way to find new fonts but it does both. I think we’ll see it expand in the future.
