According to Nielsen…
In a monthly view of U.S. Internet activity for top parent companies and web brands, The Nielsen Company found that the average time users spend using Facebook per month grew nearly 10%, topping seven hours.
So what does that really mean? It means the average “interweb” browsing individual now spends twice as much time on Facebook as they do on Google, Microsoft and Yahoo! I wonder how much time is spent playing Mafia and Farmville?
No need to wonder why in my own statistics and analytics I see Facebook growing and growing in the referrer column. For more insight check out this article by The Wall Street Journal and this one by Small Biz News.

I have been happily surprised lately with facebook. I do no paid advertising there, but have booked 4 recent brides due either in full or in part to facebook! One bride told me she couldn’t find what she liked while searching google, so tried a facebook search, found me, and now we have signed contracts. Not bad for a little low maintenance free social networking
“One bride told me she couldn’t find what she liked while searching google” Are you kidding me? No photographers on Google?
Facebook has done a great job of morphing from a C2C to a B2C social media platform. I think it provides a wonderful opportunity to show a lighter side of a small business’s personality. I think the consumer’s expectation for Facebook is a more whimsical approach when compared to a website or blog.
Do most of you use a fan page for your business, or have you created a regular personal account that you use for your business? I have a fan page, but have been disappointed in its flexibility and options. I’m thinking of creating a regular personal page instead. Any thoughts on pros/cons?
