Finally, oh wait… what am I saying? Why do you need this? Seriously who needs this? I mean don’t get me wrong the idea is cool but as an avid iPhone user I take pictures with my iPhone and I can very easily add photos via iTunes. To date I’ve not been away from my computers and said to myself “Dear GOD if I could only get that image from my SD card to my iPhone right now my world would be a better place.”
Ok I guess you could use it if you needed to share or snag a file but as with all things there are ways to do this already aren’t there?
Oh and the worst part, for the zoomIt company anyway, is that they will set you back $59.95. Yup that’s $60 for an iPhone SD card reader. This smells of success doesn’t it?

This has potential to be useful with an iPad as a way to show images to commercial clients in the field…the screen of the iPad should be a terrific size for this.
Too bad it’s only SD, not CF…and you’d be forced to deal with the iPhoto interface instead of a more professional photo browser. Nor would you have a typical file system method to download the images off the device later for working on the client file — you’d be stuck using iTunes and iPhoto. (I’m not confident that the various amatuer Apple photo handling involved doesn’t rename files or recompress JPGs).
But alas, Apple seems to be focused on making the iPhone and iPad media consumption devices rather than true productivity tools. And probably rightly so…since there’s plenty of money in that game.
Tim the iPad has already announced the camera connection kit.

Scroll down to see it. I’ve seen rumors it’s priced at $29 making this $60 a bit more absurd.
