DWF U Live San Diego: Deadline is July 4th |
We're
excited about the latest speaker added to the line-up in San
Diego. Robert Alvarado, a champion of glamour portraits
from the golden age of Hollywood will teach his unique
pin-up/retro processing. After 3 hours with Robert you’ll know
how to use his tricks and transform your work into a stylized
“wow!"
3 full days of intense instruction, small class sizes, and
4 incredible instructors. It’s why every DWF U Live event
has sold out. To keep this one workshop valuable and intimate,
we are again limiting the classes size to 50.
The Pre-Registration deadline for DWF U Live San Diego is
July 4th. All pre-registrants gets a free 16x20 custom
framed fine art print from our sponsor
Simply Color Lab.

Gaining Weight and Losing Money |
When
a DWF member says “overweight brides care less about
photography” it touches off a firestorm.
Is it true in your experience, or is bigger actually
better? This is an intense discussion that gets into real
issues, like retouching charges, realistic client
expectations, and self-image.

Bridal Diapers and More |
Collective
Ewwww! Yeah you read that correctly, "Bridal Diapers"
might just be the new thing for those brides who can't go
potty in their non bathroom friendly dress. Also on the DWF
Photography Blog this week: 4 Grungy FREE Textures, another
Journalist Detained and our weekly poll Social Networking vs
The Printed Image.

Are You a Photographer and a Psychic? |
You’ve
heard the advice: Pre-qualify your clients. Figure out
first if they’re just price shopping. But here comes a DWF
PRO who tells a story about pre-qualifying a client, and
almost losing a huge wedding. You’d better consider that
sometimes, you can’t judge a book by its cover. We hope
you’ll read why your pre-conceived notions about trailer park
clients and wedding budgets might not be accurate.

What's Good? What Sucks? |
We
want your input, plain and simple. DWF Founder Jeff
Caplan is asking all members of the DWF community to tell
him what you like most about the DWF, and what you dislike
most.
We want your help toward serving the DWF’s two goals (and
it’s the same two goals for 10 years now): To help you improve
your art, and improve your business. Pro Members, please take
a moment and post?

Mike Fulton Engagement |
It’s
always interesting when a top-notch well-known photographer
gets engaged or married.
We all look to see who the experts choose for the shoot!
Mike Fulton is a well known lighting expert who conducts
seminars and workshops all over the USA, and frequently posts
on the DWF.
Good news: Suzi has posted their engagement pictures
to share with you.

Give a Little, Get a Little: The Critique Forum |
Every
day on the DWF a member just like you, sits down at their
computer and does something that every photographer absolutely
dreads. They step outside their comfort zone and share an
image asking for a critique. The DWF PRO Critique forum
exists for this very reason and is a great place help your
fellow photographer improve their craft by giving them some
feedback. But more than that the critique forums is a place
where you can see people taking risks with their work.
Want the feedback but aren't feeling so brave just yet? Did
you know that they DWF offers anonymous critiques?

Join the Photoshop Challenge |
Face
it, it’s just plain fun to see what others do with the same
image in Photoshop.
That’s the DWF-Kubota Photoshop Challenge, each week
in the PRO Art Forum. You should work your own magic and post,
because each week the winner gets $50 worth of Kubota Bucks!
