DWFer Wins Top Honors |
On
the DWF, the legendary Jerry Ghionis says “you kicked my
arse.. mate.”
Fellow DWF Pro Johanes van Kan of New Zealand just
won a major honor at the WPPI Convention and Trade show: First
Place Album by a Single Photographer. If you want to see his
amazing album, visit the DWF, where JVK has posted links to
his work, and a recent seminar video.

Show Me Yours and I'll Show You Mine |
Posting
images to the DWF forums is easy and one of the most rewarding
things you can do as a member of the community.
The good news is that the actual process is dead simple
and we've got two easy to follow video
tutorials to prove it. Why not give it a try and upload a
photo or two to the weekly faves thread in the DWF Pro Art
Forum. What are you waiting for?

The Dead Eye Stare |
It’s
the part of the wedding you dread most: When the minister
gives you “the look”, signaling that you’ve overstepped the
rules of the church.Staying out of the way, while still
getting the shot—it’s an art! And DWF members are
discussing how they do it, in the Pro Art Forum.

Breakin the Law, Breakin the Law |
I'm
not 100% but I think this still of DWF Pro Jim Garner
from the WPPI Print Competition Spoof video might be breaking
a law or two.And if that isn't enough: This week on the DWF
blog we discuss the legality of internships, some
French dude that built his own SLR, a model release
app for the iPhone and the latest firmware for the 5D
Mark II.

Turn Off That Web Music! |
Should
you? When a potential client goes to a photographer’s website,
does that client really want to hear your music? Does it set a
mood, or does it interfere with the song they’re listening to
on iTunes?
A lot of DWF Pros are saying music on a photographer’s
homepage is annoying. Add your opinion to this discussion..

Composition & Business |
DWF
U is back after WPPI, with a fresh batch of David
Beckstead's helpful lessons on composition. He shares
shooting techniques and angles.
We've also got more great content queued up on DWF U from
Jared Bauman and Tilt N Shift's Doug McNamee!

600 Person Group Shot |
Someday
you’ll get the call: “We need a group shot. And the group
is 600 people.” So many photographers reflexively say “no
problem!” And then try to figure out how to orchestrate the
shoot.
How would you light it? How would you pose them? DWF
members with experience share their first hand knowledge. Be
ready when YOU get the call.

DWF Featured Member Brendan Landy |
This
week's DWF Featured member hails from Ireland and first became
interested in photography at the age of 13.
Since then DWF Pro Brendan Landy has shot the likes
of Michael Jackson, Bill Clinton, Michael Jordan, Neil
Armstrong, Johnny Cash. Not to mention quite a few brides and
grooms. Brendan tells us "Enjoy what you do, and if you
don’t change it until you do!".
