Swine Flu - Are Photographers
Being Affected? |
Normally we try to remain neutral on media issues like Swine Flu, but it gets personal when members of our own community are being affected.
DWF Pro Matt Adcock who resides and works in Mexico has lost a substantial portion of his income and bookings this season. Other DWF Pros with destination weddings in Mexico are experiencing cancellations as well.

Beauty Dish Thread - Check Out
The Photos! |
Neil van Niekerk started a poignant thread about beauty dishes and their use and application, and DWF Pros have been chiming in and adding their own great photos.
For the unenlightened, beauty dishes are a very common light modifier in fashion photography.
Seeing is believing, and there are more than 30 excellent example images. Many of the posts in the thread also have outbound links to other great references for more information on this contemporary lighting technique.

Be forewarned, like plenty of topics on the DWF there is a wide range of opinion and this is an issue that people feel strongly about.

The New Pocket Wizards: Good for
Weddings? |
The photography industry and landscape is rapidly changing. Months back, RadioPoppers were the first product on the market to offer flash sync with TTL.
Most recently, Pocket Wizard released their TT1 & TT5 units which do essentially the same thing--albeit very differently. The new Pocket Wizards are boasting a handful of features not found on the RadioPoppers.
So the real question is, are they good for weddings? DWF Pro Don Mears recently took his brand new Pocket Wizard units to a wedding and the results are very surprising!

12,000 Images Do? |
When is the last time you looked at the DWF Pro member gallery? Did you even know we have a gallery? You might not be the only one who never knew this part of the forum existed.
The DWF Pro member gallery is listed with excellent photographs that our members are proud to boast. Categories include things like Best Work, where members post their Top 3 all-time pictures and portraits. There are past Wedding Shoot Challenges and submissions for the DWF Photo of the Year Contest.
Another excellent section is the Photoshop Challenge. DWF Pros are presented with an image and the only limitation is their creativity. Check out some of the awesome before and after work to see the types of things our DWF Pro members are capable of doing inside Photoshop.
