DWF - Let's start off with a little bio, tell us a little bit about yourself.
ANGELICA - Ohhh! I hate this part. Let's see. I'm
a twenty-something wedding photographer living five
minutes from New York City. I graduated college with a
degree in criminal justice. I never really wanted to do
anything in that field, I just kinda liked the show Law
& Order. Seriously!
Every day I want to quit wedding photography because I'm
terrified that I'm not doing the best job possible for
my clients.
Other than the wedding photographer part of me that has
consumed my life for the past 4 years, I like
collecting: makeup, high-tops, unique animal necklaces.
Also, dance parties rock my world. .

DWF - How did you become a wedding photographer?
ANGELICA - I worked in a wedding photography
studio several years ago completing album orders. My
friend ended up hiring the studio to do her wedding.
When I told them that I would be a guest, they handed me
some film to see what I could do. Unfortunately, the
photographer got lost on the way to the church and I had
to shoot the entire ceremony by myself. A little scary,
but I did it! The rest is history.

DWF- Who or what inspires you as an artist?
ANGELICA - A random photograph off the internet.
A song that I hear for the first time. My friends. A
beautiful film. The club that I'm in at 4 o'clock in the
morning.

DWF- If we needed a photographer today why would we book you? What makes you unique?
ANGELICA - Because you will not get the style of
work that I shoot from anyone else, but me? This is such
a difficult question!
Well...
- I'll lay on the ground in the middle of 5th Avenue
to get the shot I want and you deserve,
- I'll make you look hot,
- I won't scream at your guests [unless provoked!]
- I might dance with you during the reception,
- Your album is going to kick ass and finally
- I really need the money. Apartments in NY don't
come cheap, ya know?

DWF- If you had to pick a favorite "Tool of the Trade" what would it be? and why?
ANGELICA - I know this is a very trendy lens
right now, but the 45mm tilt shift lens has changed my
world! It is sooooooo beautiful and lends itself to my
style of wedding photography. Clients often call my work
dreamy and this lens definitely makes everything dreamy!
I probably use it 100% of the time for boudoir sessions
and 60% of the time at my weddings. I also love the 24mm
f/1.4.

DWF - Care to share your favorite photograph? and tell us a bit about it?
ANGELICA -

This is one of my favorite couples of all time at my
favorite reception venue. This space is an antique
furniture warehouse, so I made the bride get on one of
the dressers. I just love the whole look...it's a little
dark and mysterious, but very pretty at the same time.

I love this couple because they displayed this image
from their engagement session as a 16x20 at their
wedding. It was displayed next to their parent's
traditional wedding images. I love when my clients push
boundaries!

It's all about trying to do something a little
different. Just a little. This couple chose this image
as their thank you card. How cool is that?

We've all heard the saying "Show what you want to
shoot!" I make sure to show my potential plenty of
risque images like this one because I want them to know
that they need to feel comfortable enough around me to
let me be there during moments like this!

This is one of my favorite images from this particular
wedding. This is one of those times where a guests
points out a situation going on and asks you to shoot it
and you get annoyed that someone is trying to tell you
what to do. Well, they were kinda right. :)

A lighting designer, a mini skirt and blinged out heels.
Sooo hot.

Some of my favorite detail shots from a wedding have
very little to do with menus or centerpieces. I love
capturing moments that the bride and groom might not
necessarily think to appreciate at that moment...like
this sunset during their first dance.

Another non-weddingy detail shot. This was a reflection
in a puddle as we walked to a park for their formal
session.

I love trees just a little more than I love brides. When
I can combine the two, I am a happy camper.

My boudoir business has skyrocketed in the past 3
months. I really want to do something different with
these. I can't stand that plastic, over-retouched skin
look. My girls will never look like that!

DWF - How about some final words to live by?
ANGELICA - The words that I like to live by? I will
outshine them all! I recently got these words tattooed
across my chest. I've been through a lot recently, but
the phrase reminds me daily that I can be great.
