DWF is an instantaneous & interactive connection to our world right at
our fingertips!!
I believe it has a very positive
global impact on the development and future progress of our trade.
DWF has to be the single most
valuable learning tool a passionate photographer can possibly acquire
(All for the cost of say… a few good mags or a couple of good
photography books).
DWF has given birth to a family
which is growing in numbers and most importantly, growing in skill and
expertise, apart from being great fun and quite addictive.
Michael Leslie, Philadelphia
The DWF is my lifeline. There is more information here than anywhere
on the net. I think it is a must anyone who is serious about digital
photography and weddings.
You will not know what you did with out it.
Becker, Southern California
The Digital Wedding Forum has become a part of my daily routine. The
education, inspiration and information I receive from the other
members is worth the cost of membership 10x over. The wealth of
knowledge, and willingness to "share the wealth" has helped foster a
real sense of community among the members. I am truly thankful for all
the friends I have made here and look forward to what tomorrow brings.
Braxton Sheehy, California
The DWF has opened a lot of doors for me. Whether you
have a question about equipment, software, sales, customer relations,
technique, seminars, there are always professionals who gladly share
their information and experiences. Do you want honest opinions of your
work, website, or logo? Many will participate with praise, ideas, and
positive criticism. Probably the greatest benefit for me is that of
friendship. I've met some great people here. We may meet at a Denis
Reggie seminar (also a member) or go out to dinner and share
ideas for hours. The DWF is more than a great investment for your
money, it's a worthwhile investment of your time.
David A. Williams,
Australia
Membership fee?
Puleeeeassse! I got my value out of that amount the first time I
connected.
Harold Jankowiak, Michigan
DWF is the one place where my office with room for only one suddenly
has room for six hundred. I can bounce my ideas off friends, get
advice, and get inspired by the best photographers on the planet. DWF
is the only place which will allow me to ask questions of the top
photographers in the US, Europe and Australia and get answers back all
in the same day. The several hundred best of the weekend photos posted
by members each week are worth the price of admission alone!
Before, I would go to
conventions and spend the week in my hotel room alone not knowing
anyone. Now I go to conventions and hardly see my hotel room because
of the time spent with DWF friends. The DWF is very much like another
famous place where you can grab a drink, pull up a chair and everyone
knows your name.
Kristin
Duarte, Rhode Island
I would not be where
I am today without DWF. The knowledge gained was a great benefit and
certainly helpful, but it is the networking and sharing of ideas and
inspiration on daily basis that make this such a rewarding place to
be.
Living in an area that is just not open to sharing and communicating
with other vendors of the same profession I found myself questioning
what I did and how I approached my style and my weddings. I was left
"guessing" at what others did for their own clients and what they
offered. I only knew what I was seeing in the local and national
magazines.
Since joining here
though I have made many friends all over the country (and world). So
many thoughts and ideas have been shared by all of us, that I now feel
very confident about my work and my style. I feel good about the
products and services I offer my clients. And of course, all the
technical goodies that you pick up here from everyone has made my
shooting skills that much more strong and impressive. Because of this
my business has grown leaps and bounds in just under one year. I know
some of it has to do with my own personal drive and talent, but
honestly, I have to give much of the credit to the DWF and all its
contributing members.
I can not live without the DWF now. It has become part of my daily
workflow.
Mark Lutz,
Pennsylvania
A membership at the DWF is like having access to a Wedding
Photographer Only Chamber of Commerce. The DWF has helped me
make my business even more successful. There is information in here
that you need to know.
Dan
Johnson, SE England
The DWF helps us think outside the box. It's broadened our horizons.
It continues to be an invaluable source of technical and business
information. And some cool people hang out here. Membership in the DWF
is probably the most cost-effective purchase we've ever made for our
business.
John Blair, Arkansas
When I started my photography business I honestly underestimated what
it would take, both in money and time. I didn't know what direction to
go in order to succeed. Actually, there was so much that I didn't
know. I knew I loved photography. I knew photography was what I wanted
to do. Thanks to the members of this forum I've taken my business in a
new direction, adding products, techniques and customer service skills
that separate me from my competition. I really think I would have
given up by now if not for the encouragement, inspiration and advice
I've received here.
John
Bagdovitz, New York
How much is it worth
to have a group of some of the best wedding and portrait photographers
in the world helping your business grow? The people on DWF are open,
friendly and honest and truly want your business to grow.
When I started out on DWF, I had very weak business skills. But with
the help of the people on DWF, my marketing and sales skills has
greatly improved and it shows on my bottom line. DWF is the best thing
that could have happened to my business.
Larry Thompson, Missouri
After 34 years in the business, I've learned to learn again through
this forum and it's growing community of photographers, young and old.
The peer sharing is spectacular and the level of decorum is top
drawer. Like a slow motion movie of a flower opening, you can almost
see the growth taking place daily.
I like it. If you're a pro or just aspiring, this is the place to
learn and grow within yourself.
John
Mackintosh,
Mass
At first I was a little reluctant to pay a subscription fee to join
the forum, so I took a trial membership. I quickly realized that my
membership in DWF was a bargain.
I joined well
before my trial period ended.
I've learned a LOT in just 3 months from reading the threads alone. I
have also received answers to my specific questions, which has helped
me solve some business problems. And these answers come quickly and in
large numbers. The members are eager and quick to help other members
out.
I've sold equipment
through the forum. I've learned of discounts and sales of photography
and business related items from posts of other members.
Prior to joining DWF I frequently visited the dpreview and
robgalbraith forums, and occasionally some others. I now spend about
80% of my forum time with DWF. That's where the pros are. There my new
best friends.
Jeff
Ellis, Chicago
When I started out
in photography I joined a communal Darkroom. It was my second home for
5 years and in effect my Photo School. Full of serious amateurs and
working professionals who freely shared information and techniques,
inspired each other and supported each other. I have missed that place
sorely.
When I joined DWF 2
years ago I knew I had come home. Although I have been working in
commercial photography for 20 years, I needed to know how to work
Digital Events, workflow, what equipment was worth my hard earned
dollars or and what wasn't.
Also I have made friends
from all over the country and beyond that I wouldn't have otherwise,
and found local support - 2 people at least that I have both loaned to
and borrowed equipment from when I was in a jam.
James
Hodgins, Ontario
Over the years I
have been an extremely avid forum participant, checking in everyday no
matter where I was. Out of all the forums online at this moment, the
most beneficial has been DWF. It's amazing how fast you become "one of
the family", and start conversing with people from all over the world.
I made my admission fee back in the first 20 minutes of joining.
Everything about my
photography has changed, and changed for the better. The way I
converse with my clients, present my images, my website, my shooting
style, my digital techniques and my marketing have all been affeted by
people on this forum. AND THIS IS A GOOD THING! I am still amazed at
the amount of professionalism that is practiced on this open forum.
In my mind, one of the best photographic online resource in the world.
Bob
Summers, Florida Keys
I am making the big leap from film to digital, and
the DWF has become my preferred on-line resource for real world advise
from working professionals.
All relevant topics are discussed, including cameras and computers and
software, business decisions and ethics, product evaluations and
advise, creative inspiration, and marketing. If it's about digital
(and film) wedding photography, it's here.
This is a very helpful group of pros and enthusiasts who are glad to
share. These folks are straight shooters - no trolls or aggressive
troublemakers like on many public boards.
I think it's the best digital wedding photography board on the
Internet.
Sacha
Hrabar, Washington
Simply put the DWF is an bottomless pool of amazing
resources. Talented and inspiring people from all over the world
collaborating to help each other on basically everything photography
related. Aside from all of the connections you make with photograhers
new and old, near and far you have this place you can turn at any hour
with any dilemna and usually get it solved in hours (and many times
minutes.) I have visited many photography forums and the biggest thing
that keeps me coming back to the DWF is the professionalism, passion,
and dedication to the job I find behind the posts. On other forums
I've seen many people who claim to want to be wedding photographers
because it seems to be this ideal glamorous job, but here I am
surrounded by people who are serious about wedding photography and
(from what I can tell) in it for all the right reasons.
Kevin
Wilson, UK
So many photographers striving for perfection;
always an answer to your problem.
Rob
Miracle, North Carolina
I've recently gotten back into wedding photography
after a long absense. So many things have changed.
Its very hard to talk to a local photographer about starting up your
own business since in the end, you will be their competition.
The DWF has given me access to a grand knowledge base of wedding
photographers who ARE willing to help make me a better wedding
photographer and a better businessman. I can now be inspired by the
best. I can learn new techniques to improve my product and when I get
in a bind, answers are minutes away, not hours or days.
This is one very special community!
Tony
Bisson, California
Many of the most talented and innovative
photographic businesspersons that I know are right here on the DWF.
If a problem arises during my workday, I can start a post and move on
to a different task. After 20 minutes or so, I check back and see that
a group of people have posted their experience on the topic. I save so
much time and money this way. I pay back the community with my own
answers to a post when I have a solution.
I have made several friends through the DWF and have booked three
weddings for 2004 through referrals from forum members.
I am a frequent contributor the forum and my participation continues
to reward me day after day.
I would encourage any serious photographer to join the group, with the
hope that they too would contribute and not merely lurk.
Richard
Bublitz, Wisconsin
The DWF was one of my resources when
I started with digital photography 3-1/2 years ago. Today it is the
only on-line resource I feel is worth the time I spend looking for
information. I didn't think twice when the forum went to private
membership and I find something new with every visit.
I have been totally digital with my studio portraiture for over two
years now, and totally digital with my weddings for a little over a
year. One of the businesses I network with recently told me that I was
light years ahead of others in my area.
Paul RG,
Leeds, UK
From the Photoshop Challenge to the Wedshoot
challenge and all other posts in between I learn something about
digital photography every day on the Digital Wedding Forum. For
example, after weeks of looking for suitable backup software,
elsewhere, someone posted a link on the DWF 3 days ago. I tried then
bought it - just one of the many great things I've found out about by
using this forum.
Darlene
Rowe, Florida
DWF is the cutting edge of photography!
Owen
Kassimir, Long Island
The sharing of
knowledge among members is the greatest benefit of the DWF. Whatever
level of photography you are, you can be a contributor to this great
forum. The exchange of ideas and answers to peoples problems that
everyone gives without a second thought is what this forum is about.
If you are only a taker then don't join. You have to be a giver of
information. One who loves to teach. This forum is about learning and
getting better at our craft. If all photographers were on the same
playing surface, don't you think that everyone would benefit. I do!
Tina Wilson,
Tennessee
It's almost
overwhelming, really. There is such an enormous amount of
knowledge available here. Just the small amount that I have
implemented into my business has actually made it a business and not a
"what-I-do-on-the-side" gig.
I have increased my sales per customer approx 250.00 and I still feel
as though I've only scratched the surface.
I have learned more about PhotoShop in the past 3 months than I have
in an entire 4 years trying to teach myself.
I've gained creativity, lighting help and instruction, learned about
the latest technology, how-to's all over the place and met a ton of
truly awesome people.
The only negative thing I could possibly say about DWF is that it's
hard to stay away from and constantly visiting here cuts into my
productivity!
I love this place!

Thinking of a
membership? Be careful - the DWF is addictive! Your family life may
suffer from all the time you will spend plugged in to this community.
You will find no end to the fountain of information contained within
this site - techniques, business advice, equipment, and friendship all
in one place.
I got a fresh start back into wedding photography a year ago, and
scoured the web for forums and other useful sources of information. I
was reading every board I found until I stumbled on DWF and new I was
home. My business is already full-time, and I could double-book many
weekends if I were a split personality! I credit DWF with a
significant part of my success. I have one link now for professional
wedding photographer now, and this is it.
Dave Phares,

We would like to
just echo the many sentiments from the members of DWF. This is truly a
remarkable investment at $60. We are learning so much in a friendly,
helpful environment. We have had a studio for many years but digital
is changing all the rules. We joined last month and found it to be a
place where we could grow in our business and learn from others
techniques and information shared that are just invaluable. Thank you
Jeff for making it a really great forum for education, for the sharing
of ideas and what is going on outside of own studio. There are some
really nice people here and the range is from part time photographers
to full time well known photographers. All of them share and join in
this community atmosphere of people helping other people to get ahead
in life and enjoy what you are doing. You will love it and really like
the people. If you want help, its here, if you need a question
answered, its here, if you want some business strategy information-
its here. It will be the best investment you make this year.
Peggy Bair, Kansas
I am a seasoned photojournalist who re-entered the market as a wedding
and portrait photographer. I was looking for an informational board to
discuss business and technical aspects regarding digital photography
as it relates to weddings and portraits. I not only found what I was
looking for but I also found truly professional behavior and demeanor
in an online format -- a rare find in the cyber-world. |
Dave Cheung,
Edmonton, Canada
It's not hype. This is the real deal.
I would probably still be shooting
film and struggling to charge more than $2000 for a wedding if it
weren't for this fabulous forum.
Laura
Novak, Delaware
This morning I had a question about a DVD authoring program with
potential clients coming in a 1/2 hour. I posted the question on DWF
and within five minutes I had my answer.
I can honestly say that there is no
way that I would be where I am today without this forum. In addition
to the amazing technical and business knowledge, its incredible how
many amazingly talented photographers post their inspiring images each
week.
The friendliness of the forum creates
at atmosphere where anyone is welcome and no question is even left
unanswered. I feel fortunate and blessed to call so many members here
my friends.
Stacey
Magnuson, Colorado
The DWF is such a
huge pool of wisdom, from people who have been shooting for years and
years who can share their experiences, to the newer photographers who
keep us on our toes.
When I have been
discouraged, DWF members have called to encourage me. I have made so
many friends here and learned so much I can't remember how I
functioned before the DWF. This job is an easy one to get too isolated
and disconnected from people, and the DWF is just a click away to
information, friendly conversation, and when I have a cry for help. It
makes me feel I'm not alone anymore when wrestling with issues that
are common to all photographers. The inspiration, the information, and
the friendships are simply priceless to me.
Neil
Copeland, Georgia
I've been a photographer for 30 years. I shot my first wedding
digitally in 2001 and soon after that discovered the DWF. It was not
long before I decided to quit shooting weddings....at least until I
felt I could reach the threshold standards exhibited by the other
professionals on DWF. The tuition cost is a pittance compared to
the knowledge I've gained. I plan to reenter the game soon. A
wonderful learning experience.
Brett
Foland, Ontario Canada
I thought, "Why should I pay a fee to join a website when there are
others that cost nothing". I soon realized that this is a board of
professionals and the questions and answers were professional and from
experience. What really blew me a way was how friendly and helpful
everyone is.
If I could sum DWF up in one sentence
I would say that, "I am a much better and much more knowledgeable
photographer because of the collective knowledge shared by everyone
here".
I have grown to love this place.
Michael
Candee, Illinois
The comeraderie is
great. I have actually made more money thanks to this forum. I too
have been a pro for over 20 years. I have learned all sorts of little
things that have helped my business. It is a nice place to see great
images and learn how many of them were made. It is also a place to
relax and ruminate over issues and realize we do not have to be lone
warriours in this business.
I have made the cost of admission many times over.
Karen
Simmons, Atlanta
Every year when I go
to conventions like WPPI I'm amazed and surprised at the number of
people who don't know about the latest in photographic technology,
trends, marketing ideas, etc. It's then that it's most obvious to me
that what I consider the "photographic norm" in my experience is
really the leading edge of the industry. And the reason I'm able to
stay on that leading edge is because of the DWF. The people here are
not only excellent photographers - they are innovators. And more than
that, they are teachers who are willing to share the knowledge gained
by their personal experiences. It's because of the knowledge and
information provided by the members here that my business is where it
is today; I'm a better photographer and a better businessperson
becuase of what I have learned here.
Ulysses,
New York
When my wife and I first made our decision to make a serious effort at
professional photography specializing in wedding photography, we
really had no idea as to how important it would be to *continue* to
educate ourselves as well as to network ourselves. The DWF has proven
to be a way to do both of these things.
While I've been a "shooter" for a
number of years now, the DWF has truly helped me to be more aware of
what the business of photography means.
I'd like to mention that the DWF is
one of the rare places where you can be a relatively new member and
still viewed as a true peer, if you have meaningful contributions to
make to the rest of the group. Thank you, all DWF members.
Dave
Brown, Texas
I made DWF a part of
my daily workflow long before there was a membership fee required.
When that became a requirement, I had no trouble becoming an "official
member" It truly is the best investment for the aspiring digital
wedding photographer or the experienced pro. If you want to increase
your knowledge about digital wedding photography, exchange ideas, and
get that much needed support and guidance than DWF is the place to be.
Judy C,
Toronto
When I joined I was skeptical about whether or not
as a film photographer, I would fit in. I soon realized that this
forum is made up of a unique group of photographers from around the
world that provide their craft in many different forms. It is that
uniqueness that keeps my interest. It is those differences that
provide me with ideas and ways to improve the way "I" shoot.
Now that I am ready to take the plunge into digital, I couldn't have
done it without this place and the individuals here. Its like going to
a seminar or class and getting an education ... however, the fee is
about the cheapest education I've gotten in a long time

Along with that I've met online some amazingly generous people. People
that I admire and respect. The DWF is priceless!!
Howard
Berg, Minnesota
Like John I too had a very short trial period. I
was amazed at the threads and all of the information going on here.
I have been a photographer for many years and have been digital for
the last few years. I have learned more here about digital photography
than any other single source anywhere.

I feel that The
Digital Wedding Forum is a model of what all cyber-communities should
aspire to become...
The Digital Wedding Forum is a distillation of the finest that the
Internet has to offer to the serious and dedicated Photographer.
No where else can you find the camaraderie, positive support, and
up-to-the-second musings of the most enthusiastic shooters on the
planet.
This does, however, come with a price. A membership fee, and the
expectation that you, too, will be a positive and generous
participant.
Opinions welcomed, and cheerfully debated. Attitude and anger? Please
move along...
Frank
Pryor, San Francisco
--The DWF is an unparalleled international
community of working photographers who share the same technical and
professional concerns that I do and are unselfish in sharing their
solutions.
As an internet BBS it has an incomparable signal to noise (or value to
BS) ratio.
Generally, the folks who
respond to a given question actually know what they're talking about.
Not true for most boards where folks are not so careful about what
they post. You'll still get a variety of solutions to a given query,
but most of them will be worth considering.
--This is not an anonymous board. We are identifiable and so are
accountable for what we say. The decorum which the DWF generally
maintains, and that is missing from most online communities, makes
this a safe and pleasant place to post.
--The range of topics discussed on this board go far beyond f-stops
and billing issues. If I have a question on any topic I'm as
likely to bring it to the DWF as to Google. And I'll often get better
information.
-- The give and take on this board is endlessly entertaining. In fact
the single negative associated with membership is that it's highly
addictive.
Stuart

As far as I'm aware
the DWF is unique in a nutshell you have access to a world wide
seminar on-line 24/7 and the subject is ???? well anything that
springs to mind. You never stop learning at this game, the forum is
fun you make new friends, its the ultimate world wide network.

After scouring the
Internet for information on the ins and outs of wedding photography, I
stumbled on the DWF. I soon discovered that this place has more
information on wedding photography concentrated in one place than you
will find anywhere. This forum is what made it possible for me to
develop from stumbling amateur to a professional photographer..
Aside from the vast amount of information, DWF feels like a family. I
cannot say enough about the people here – they are kind, helpful, and
amazing people. I feel lucky to be a part of this.
Jeb Blann,

I joined the DWF last summer, looking for a
place to share and learn. It has become much more. The interaction on
this forum has proven to be a never ending source of knowledge and
inspiration and the photo critique section is a great place to hone
your skills.
Yes, there are an incredible number of some of the world's finest
photographers here, but there is also the seasoning of the excitement
of "newbies" that help maintain a fresh perspective.

As an aspiring professional I have spent
significant resources on equipment, books and seminars. DWF is my most
valuable resource for training on technical, artistic and business
issues. It has given me the confidence to run my business as a
professional and to deliver a quality product to my clients.
A big thanks to
the entire DWF Community.
Vance

I have personally benefited financially and
professionally since being a member of DWF.
I have literally
saved hundreds of dollars by reading opinions on equipment,
consumables and techniques from others who have been there and done
that. If you don't believe me just look at your own gear and tally up
the cost of the trash (things you bought and thought you would use but
didn't) you have bought over the year. The DWF has turned out to be a
great place to learn and share your experience without being flamed.
In a word "Professional" We are professionals working with each other.
It's a great place to be!
Ray Prevost, California
Four out of five photographers recommend DWF for those who chew
pixels.
Fernando
Carcamo, Costa Rica
The membership fee has been more than justified,
and has yielded exponentially; especially when considering the wealth
of knowledge I have received regarding the purchase of equipment, and
awareness of techniques and processes that have made me a more
complete professional. It is unquestionably the very best value and
source of information available anywhere. I have received invaluable
input from the forum members regarding just about every major decision
involving the direction of my business since I joined. It is like
having at team of experts at your disposal who are too willing to
selflessly share their knowledge to my benefit.
Thank you DWF members
for all you've done on my behalf.
Kristian
Olson, Minnesota
Since stumbling upon DWF almost by accident a few
months ago, my only regret is not finding it much, much sooner.
Since joining, my business and creative ideas have expanded so fast
that it invigorates me to be a better photographer and businessperson.
In photography, I've learned numerous new techniques and ideas that
have proved an immediate impact upon the quality of my work. In
business, its an invaluable tool to hear from other professional
businesspeople in your own profession who share with you ideas that
not only work, but really set you apart from the mass of "all those
other" photographers that you used to be one of.
Best digital wedding photographers resource on the internet or
anywhere, hands down.
Graham
Evans, Wales, UK
For me it's a forever increasing circle of
knowledge, it's educating me on styles of photography, technical data
and business details. The Hideout is soooo compulsive and FUN.
Carol Darby, Western Australia
I initially joined when there was no cost involved. When it changed to
an annual fee I had no hesitation in paying. I have found the DWF to
be the best place to help with technical questions, info about the
best equipment and much more. Occasionally I can return the favour if
I have information to share.
Here in Western Australia we feel as if we are at the far ends of the
earth. Indeed Perth is the most isolated capital city in the world -
as in distance to another capital. But being a member of the DWF has
made me feel a much closer part of the International wedding
photographers community. I feel I have many "friends" out there.
Without my regular "fix" on the Forum I would be lost.
Sandra Johnson, Florida
I signed up for a
trial membership at the end of January. This board moved
SO fast at first that it overwhelmed me! But now I take what I need
out of it and sometimes it doesn't move fast enough!
I have learned so many new tips, techniques, etc. I have also learned
that I am not alone with my problems and issues. (At first I thought
my D2H was only giving ME messed up color!)
My trial membership expired the day I flew home from WPPI and I was
freaking out that I might have been cut off...but I was able to pay
the $60 in time. It is well worth it!
And of course meeting all these inspirational photographers from
around the world is by far the BEST part!

What made me want to
join was the fact that there is such a warmth to the community - a
place where people ask questions and actually get honest opinions from
many different viewpoints. How should I reply to this e-mail? What am
I doing wrong? What is your opinion? The responses I've seen show how
professional the people here are, as well as how receptive people have
been to others who enjoy the same field of interest.

DWF has become my professional community. Having
started my own wedding and portrait business 18 months ago I have
progressed to the stage where I'm no longer losing money but making
it.
I put much of my development down to knowledge gained from the
wonderful members here. The discussion is always robust, always to the
point and invaluable to my business. Sitting here working from home,
there is always help just a few key strokes away. |

As you read the great threads that are posted daily or even hourly,
you start to feel you are part of a borderless community of
photographers.... This ‘give and receive’ psychology is wonderful to
watch, and even better to dive into head first.
What you learn can save you money and
make you money. My business would not have grown and evolved as
fast if I had not joined the Digital Wedding Forum.

The exchange of ideas, insights and images far exceed the offering of
any seminar or convention. And when you tire of technical discussions,
simply turn to the Hideout for intelligent, thoughtful, political
debates or members favorite recipes. Furthermore, with such a large
membership, networking with your local contingent of DWF'ers
frequently presents referrals and assistants. The membership fee? What
a deal!

How much would you expect to pay to attend a seminar by a leading edge
photographer - $200, $300, $400 and maybe more??
Here at the DWF there are many
photographers who will help you solve those digital problems and
workflows - 24 hours a day and 365 days a year with helpful and
friendly people from across the world sharing their ideas, images and
workflows.
This is simply the best online forum
for wedding photographers in this solar system, period.
PJ Leffingwell, Florida
The DWF keeps us on the leading edge of technology in our industry. We
have the top photographers in the world here and they share their
knowledge and expertise freely. I learn something new here each and
every day!
Ed
Guarante, New York
Making more money is an understatement. I am shooting more weddings at
a much higher rate than I ever imagined. The membership fee is a mere
pittance for sure.
Charles Gordon Ward, Wales UK
"A veritable treasure trove of knowledge and valuable information. In
2003, the DWF's members helped turn my business into a sole source of
income. I have now rejoined the DWF, best thing I ever did"!
Dave Keiser, Missouri
The DWF is my way of keeping 'my ear to the ground' on wedding/studio
photography related issues. All the 'new' stuff offered at photo
seminars and conventions now seems like 'old news' because in most
cases we'll have already discussed and debated the pros and cons of
each new angle on the forum! You can't beat a 24/7 community of
professionals who are always willing to share and discuss their ideas.
Bannister Harrison, Maryland
I am a part-time professional photographer, and the DWF has made this
the best part-time job- I mean fun- anyone could ever have. Although I
have been shooting weddings for over 20 years, all part-time, this
forum has escalated my potential as a wedding/portrait/event
photographer to heights I've never dreamed of.
The education, the
skillful people, wonderful people unselfishly giving of their
experience and ideas, all the helpful hints and tips, has made me a
much, much better photographer. Topics from how to get clients to sign
to the excitement of new gear adds to the euphoria of being a member
of DWF.
You
can never stop learning this business and that is where DWF's stength
lies.

Simply put, The
information found here....PRICELESS!

The DWF is so many things for me:
*Hundreds of cool coworkers to chat with about work. *A
constructive but frank sounding board for new ideas. *A place to go if
I'm seeking input about ANY issue, technical, artistic,
client/interpersonal, business-related...someone ALWAYS knows the
answer, and usually within minutes!
*A kind but challenging environment that helps me grow artistically.
*An amazing source of inspiration
The best investment I've made in my business so far. hands down.

I was recommended to
the DWF by another forum which now I don't even visit. We were in the
process of switching from Film to Digital and have found this site not
only valuable but very helpful in our transition. The members are very
helpful and friendly. We have found more information and help
here then any other place for the membership fee it was worth it. You
not only meet nice people but the best photographers that you can
learn from. It has really made a difference in our photography in our
next step to The Digital World.

Geography and it's limitations.
Our ideas are often hindered by our limited exposure to 'other ways'
to do things. For many of use, I'm sure we market the same way, look
for the same clients and shoot the same way year after year. DWF
grants us exposure to new ideas, new ways to do things and most
importantly access peers who work in different geographical locations
and different circumstances.
We have some of the smartest minds in
photography right here, waiting to help.

If you already know everything there is to know about digitally
shooting weddings, then do not join this forum.
If you want your competitors to
constantly have an edge over you, then do not join this forum.
If sleep is important to
you, then do not join this forum.

The DWF has changed my way of thinking about wedding and portrait
photography. It has expanded my view through the information freely
given from great photographers all over the world. It's the
information that I gain everyday that keeps me here and coming back
everyday.

I'd have to say that the DWF is important to me
because it's a place online I can come that accuratly reflects the
real world..I love the fact that everyone I am meeting and talking to
here is a real person..I also like being able to see who I'm talking
to through avatar pics that are real as well...I really like the fact
that everyone here is a professional and we can all talk intelligently
without the usual BS of online sites..This in itself is what drew me
to the DWF...It's great to be part of this fantastic online community.
It's so great to come here and get so many business tips from people
who have already found what works and what doesn't...If you have a
problem or concern that you need addressed, there is always someone
who has gone through that same problem or had that same concern and
it's great to get different viewpoints and feedback to help guide you
along.

I'm relatively new to WDF as well - only been here
for a couple of months. I sort of attribute it to my regional PPA
group that meets once a month. We get to discuss how our business is
going and get opinions from other in our local area. I guess DWF is
more like my regional PPA on sterroids - I get to visit with people
who have the same interest in photography as I do - but on a daily
basis!

When I first found Digital Wedding Forum Michael
and I had a a great business which we loved but we were rather
isolated as far as the photographic community. It has been truly
profound to find a talented, knowledgeable, generous group of world
wide photographers and to be part of it.
The quality of
work here continually inspires us to set the bar higher and aim for
excellence. I can honestly say that joining DWF is the single best
thing we have done to make our business prosper and aim for the stars.

In todays digital
age the software is almost as important as the camera and with so many
people here at DWF costantly reporting back with new and up to date
software ideas it is a great resource for finding little diamonds of
information about what is new in this ever changing part of the
photography process.
If you are looking for something specific then there is a fair chance
that you can get a link to just the program you are looking for by
just asking the question.

Where else can you. . .
Get advice on your business card or website in minutes? Get
business help from MBAs, 20 year veterans, and industry leaders?
See award winning photos and albums from around the world? Bond
with other newbies in the business and famous wedding photographers?
Only at DWF! All of this and more, without leaving the comfort of your
chair! DWF is truly a miracle that inspires everyday!

I owned and ran a lab and shot weddings on film.
And I was bored of it. After discovering the DWF and trawling thro its
archives, Iopened a fully digital studio 6 months later, and a year
after that closed my lab.
Joining the DWF was, without a doubt, the most cost effect thing I
have ever done! It is an incredible technical support line and an
unparalelled resource of business advice and artistic inspiration.
David

For a newcomer to wedding photography, DWF is a
dream. The talent here is incredible. Yet that same talent is
willing to share, guide and support without patronizing.
David A. Williams, (again!)
A Classic example of why the DWF is worth its weight in crunchy nut
bars!
I have been putting together one of the Albums Australia 'Matrix'
slide-in albums. The prints on photographic paper slide in easily -
but this is on Matt inkjet paper - No grip!
After panicking, jumping up and down and swearing, - I remember a post
on the DWF which said 'use thin disposable rubber gloves' - A quick
trip to the cabinet where 'management' stores her hair coloring, and
Voila!....Excellent grip.....
Now that might seem like a small thing, but last time I put one
together I was up to my knees in creased prints covered in sweat
stains.
Thanks whoever it was!

I came to Digital Wedding Forum with the intention
of joining! It is a place to keep your finger on the pulse of our
industry. After joining I recognized many names of some awesome
working professional photographers. I've found many more awesome
working professional photographers here as well.
David

One of the things that makes DWF so wonderful for
me is that I have an instant community that I can ask advice, and
really get down to the brass tacks of day to day operations. How great
is that, just to jump on the computer and ask the world community why
is this crashing, how do you do this, which one to buy, etc?
It's an incredibly supportive and friendly bunch as well, where a free
exchange of ideas is truly honored.
Allegra,
Virginia
I lack the eloquence of the other
photographers here but let me just say this; as a film photographer
making the (sometimes) difficult transition to digital, the DWF was an
invaluable source of help, information, advice and support. I now am a
"hybrid" photographer photographing in both mediums and I find that
every day I learn something either about the business, marketing or
techniques of photography. You won't regret spending the money!

When deployed overseas, it quickly became apparent none of my fellow
Soldiers could understand, let alone discuss, the stress of owning a
business, how to stay on the cutting edge both technically and
tactically, and forget discussing improving photographically.
My DWF community was there for me. Their growth and lessons helped me
continue to grow professionally while sitting in a huge sandbox. And
now that I am home and reworking my business structure, I can (and do)
call community members to discuss thoughts and ideas. Should I be
honored enough to be sent back overseas, the DWF community will be
with me again.
Just when you
think you know photography, DWF will show you a whole new level.
Kim Sayre, San Francisco
I can't imagine my day without the DWF! Where else can you get good,
honest advice, feel a part of a great community, and have such a vast
wealth of knowledge and business at your fingertips? It's giving and
sharing, and the best place to go when you want a reality check on how
to handle a tricky situation - either in a technical world or a
personal customer service world. As many have said, I have learned
more here than I have in many seminars I have attended, and have
enjoyed getting to know people in our world-wide community, both
online and off line!
Heather
Whiting, California
so
many other have already said this. But here it goes.
DWF has become the place that I go to first. If I need some
inspiration, there are so many amazing photographers that inspire me
and motivate me to create something beautiful and new.
If I need help, there is a plethora of information on this board. From
color management, lab referals, camera settings, lighting...anything.
Community. Every photogrpher that I have contacted or meet through
these boards had been wonderful. There is no fighting over territory
or ideas, its a fantasic community that I feel honored to be a part
of. I've learn so much in the few months since I've joined.
Seth Kaye, Massachussetts
The DWF provides access to resources I otherwise wouldn't have. The
range of experience, expertise and business acumen on display daily by
photographers of all levels is, for me, more than worth the price of
admission.
This online community of, by and for photographic professionals is
truely the best of its kind.
Samantha Becker, North Carolina
As a newbie to professional photography, I have found the DWF to be
the most valuable tool available to me. I get the opportunity to learn
from some of the best photographers in the industry, without the cost
and time restrictions of attending a class or seminar. My membership
has allowed me to get technical advice about composition, lighting,
and posing; business advice about marketing, incorporating, pricing,
and setting up valid policies; artistic advice about shooting and
editing. Also, this is a great place to meet new people, and everyone
is super friendly. Join. You won't regret it.
AmyPS,Texas
This is my very
favorite forum to visit. It is mind boggling how willing everyone here
is to help. I know that whenever I have a question, and most of mine
are not "wedding" specific, I have an answer so fast I can hardly
believe it. It astounds me to get expert help so quickly, with no
"attitude" except for
being supportive. I have such respect for the other photographers
here, and the respect they all have for each other is clear
immediately. When I joined, I was made to feel welcome right from the
start and it has been consistent ever since. If there was one site
that I would pay for, this is the one it would be. I can't begin to
list the things I've learned here that would have taken me forever (or
never) on my own. And not once has anyone made me feel that my
questions are "dumb". I would not have improved as quickly as I am
without DWF. I love DWF!

No one knows it all. Whether you are a seasoned
professional photographer or an aspiring professional, the DWF is a
place where successful photographers put their collective heads
together to discuss the business and art of photography.
There is a wealth of information here about every aspect of running a
successful business and of utilizing the latest (and sometimes
timeless) techniques to create beautiful and sellable images for
clients. The dialogue that occurs here is professional, courteous, and
tons of fun! For professional forums, the DWF is without peer. It is
the place to be.

Just spending a few hours on DWF is worth the price
of admission. This is a great place to hang out, share and LEARN!
