Latest On DWF Convention 09! |
Education
and Inspiration go hand in hand at DWF 09. The aim of
any convention is to give you solid ideas to take home and
implement into your business.
What sets DWF Conventions apart is the ability to talk to,
mingle with, and network with the speakers! You’ll also
connect with the people whose posts you read every day on the
DWF. Trade show? We got that. We'll set you up with free
badges and transportation to ImagingUSA
Uh Fun?
It wouldn't be a DWF convention without it. New this year: the
DWF Poker Tournament with cash prizes! The DWF Party,
this time on site so you can party til morning, complete with
sloppy dancing, like you’ve seen in the videos. The Booty
Shakers will go clubbing, and we'll take you off site
twice: once to see AltF at El Pedrigal, and once to shh,
it's still a secret. The resort’s saloon is bigger and better
than any hotel bar to date, with pool tables and free peanuts.
We've instructed the Carefree to lay in extra bartenders
during the convention. Rumors have it Joel Wiebner is
plotting revenge in the Second Annual Eating Contest and your
Convention Director has already scouted the location of the
nearest liquor store. Villas are perfect for parties, there
are golf carts to zoom around in, rental cars cheap and the
mountains are just a stone's throw away. There's even an
optional trip to Sedona.
Oh right, don't forget the
Speaker List Part 1, glammed-up for your viewing
pleasure. Part II comes out in next week's newsletter.

Where The Comma Goes |
Taylor Jackson provoked an intense discussion with his
question ‘What separates a $1,500 photographer from a $15,000
one. DWF photographers weigh in with their opinions and
advice, name names and question whether it’s desirable to be a
$15,000 shooter.

Hi Are You Booked On |
If you could choose anyone, who would you choose to shoot your
wedding? This is a fun thread to agree or disagree
with, but think about it: each of the photographers mentioned
has something so unique about their personal or photographic
style that another photographer would like to be captured in
that way.
If you are trying to develop your own unique ‘look’ check out
these photographers websites to see what inspires them.

Nikon Announces New D700 & SB-900 |
Last
week Nikon announced the upcoming release of it's new
D700. It's a 12.1 megapixel Full Frame (FX) DSLR with high iso
performance identical to Nikon's flagship D3. The best part?
It's only $3,000 and is slated to for full release later this
month. Nikon also announced a brand new SB-900 Speedlight that
has some amazing features. There is some lively discussion
about these and more in the PRO Gear & Software forums.

When Dinosaurs Roamed The Earth |
Read
the thread in Start where DWF PRO members talk about how they
got started. Find out who got their start by calling all the
Wedding Photographers in the Yellow Pages to apprentice, and
who missed taking any shots of the groom in their first
wedding.
Add your story. This thread just keeps getting better and
better!

WedFog - And The Hits Keep Coming |
We've
now got MORE page 1 Google rankings! WedFog is
now on the first page of Google for the search phrase,
"wedding photography" in some locations. It was only weeks ago
that we touted recent first page triumphs with "wedding
photographer". Hold onto your hats as we enjoy another sizable
boost in overall site traffic and nationwide exposure!
WedFog Stat: What does that really mean in terms of
clicks? Over the past month it's meant a 337% increase in
clicks for that single phrase.

DWF People in Focus |
Tim
Schooler’s grandson Cooper had a setback this week, but
continues to hang in there. Teri Murikami’s young
friend Emma, daughter of her friend Jayne, has cancer and they
are starting chemotherapy. All prayers for both children are
appreciated. Congrats to Mike O’Bryon who was there
when greats of the golf and tennis worlds united for Chris
Evert’s wedding to Greg Norman. Eric Dungan and his
wife welcome Boston, their first boy and fourth child.
